Customize your Palett experience and manage your account security, preferences, and data from Account Settings.

Accessing Account Settings

How to get there:

  1. Click your profile icon (top right)
  2. Select "Account Settings" from dropdown

Or: Navigate directly to palett.space/settings


Profile Settings

Basic Information

Edit your profile:

  1. Account Settings → Profile

  2. Update:

    • Full Name: Display name throughout Palett
    • Email: Login email (verification required if changed)
    • Profile Photo: Upload image (JPG/PNG, max 2MB)
    • Job Title: Optional (e.g., "Senior Interior Designer")
    • Company: Optional (e.g., "Smith Design Studio")
  3. Click "Save Changes"

Why it matters:

  • Name shows in team collaboration
  • Photo helps teammates identify you
  • Company appears on exports (Professional+ plans)

Email Preferences

Control notifications:

  1. Account Settings → Notifications

  2. Toggle on/off:

    • Project Updates: When teammates comment, add materials
    • Credit Alerts: When credits run low
    • Weekly Summary: Project activity digest
    • Product Updates: New features, tips
    • Marketing: Occasional Palett news (opt-in)
  3. Choose delivery:

    • In-app only: Notifications in Palett (top right bell icon)
    • Email + in-app: Get emails too
    • Off: No notifications for this type

Recommended for active users:

  • ✅ Project Updates (email + in-app)
  • ✅ Credit Alerts (email + in-app)
  • ☐ Weekly Summary (in-app only)
  • ☐ Product Updates (in-app only)
  • ☐ Marketing (off)

Security Settings

Password Management

Change your password:

  1. Account Settings → Security → Password
  2. Enter current password
  3. Enter new password (min. 8 characters, mix of letters/numbers)
  4. Confirm new password
  5. Click "Update Password"

Best practices:

  • Use unique password (not used elsewhere)
  • Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols
  • Consider password manager (1Password, LastPass)
  • Change every 90 days for high-security needs

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Add extra security layer:

  1. Account Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication
  2. Click "Enable 2FA"
  3. Scan QR code with authenticator app:
    • Google Authenticator
    • Authy
    • 1Password
    • Microsoft Authenticator
  4. Enter 6-digit code to verify
  5. Save backup codes (for recovery if you lose phone)

After enabling:

  • Every login requires password + 6-digit code
  • Protects against account takeover
  • Required for Agency plans

Backup codes:

  • Download and store securely
  • Use if you lose authenticator access
  • Each code works once

Active Sessions

See where you're logged in:

  1. Account Settings → Security → Active Sessions
  2. View list:
    • Device type (Mac, Windows, iPhone, etc.)
    • Browser
    • Location (city, country)
    • Last active time

Revoke suspicious sessions:

  • Click "Revoke" next to unfamiliar device
  • Forces logout from that device
  • Change password immediately if concerned

Preferences

Display Settings

Customize your workspace:

  1. Account Settings → Preferences → Display
  2. Adjust:
    • Theme: Light, Dark, or System (follows OS)
    • Compact Mode: Tighter spacing (more content visible)
    • Board Thumbnail Size: Small, Medium, Large
    • Sidebar: Always visible or auto-hide

Recommended for designers: Light theme, large thumbnails

Default Settings

Set project defaults:

  1. Account Settings → Preferences → Defaults
  2. Choose:
    • New board color: Default for all new boards
    • Board view: Grid or List
    • Sort order: Date added, name, vendor, price
    • Image quality default: Draft, Standard, or High Quality

Why set defaults: Saves time, ensures consistency across projects

Keyboard Shortcuts

Customize shortcuts (optional):

  1. Account Settings → Preferences → Shortcuts
  2. View all shortcuts
  3. (Coming soon) Customize key bindings

Most useful shortcuts:

  • ⌘K / Ctrl+K: Open search
  • ⌘B / Ctrl+B: Toggle sidebar
  • N: New board
  • /: Focus search bar
  • Esc: Close modals

Data & Privacy

Data Export

Download all your data:

  1. Account Settings → Data & Privacy → Export Data
  2. Click "Request Export"
  3. Receive email when ready (typically 24 hours)
  4. Download ZIP file containing:
    • All projects (JSON)
    • All boards and materials
    • All visualizations (images/videos)
    • Notes and activity logs

Use cases:

  • Backup for peace of mind
  • Migrate to another system
  • Compliance requirements

Data Deletion

Delete specific data:

  • Projects: Open project → Settings → Delete Project
  • Boards: Open board → Menu (⋯) → Delete
  • Materials: Select → Delete
  • Visualizations: Open visualization → Delete

Deleted data:

  • Moved to trash for 30 days
  • Permanently deleted after 30 days
  • Recoverable during 30-day period (contact support)

Account Deletion

Permanently delete your account:

  1. Account Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete Account
  2. Click "Delete My Account"
  3. Read warnings carefully:
    • All projects, boards, materials deleted
    • All visualizations deleted
    • Action is permanent after 30-day grace period
    • Team members lose access to your shared projects
  4. Type your email to confirm
  5. Click "Delete Account"

What happens:

  • Account deactivated immediately
  • Data retained for 30 days (recovery possible)
  • After 30 days, data permanently deleted
  • No refunds for paid subscriptions

Alternatives to consider:

  • Cancel subscription but keep account (downgrade to Free)
  • Archive projects instead of deleting
  • Export data first for backup

Branding (Professional+)

Company Branding

Customize client-facing exports:

  1. Account Settings → Branding

  2. Upload:

    • Logo: PNG with transparency (recommended), max 2MB
    • Choose brand colors: Primary and secondary
    • Add company info:
      • Company name
      • Address
      • Phone
      • Email
      • Website
  3. Preview how it looks on:

    • PDF exports
    • Guest links
    • Presentations
  4. Save branding

Applied to:

  • ✅ PDF exports (logo on header/footer)
  • ✅ Excel exports (logo on cover page)
  • ✅ Guest links (branded interface)
  • ✅ Email notifications to clients

Not applied to:

  • Your internal Palett interface (stays Palett-branded)

Team Management (Studio & Agency)

Team Members

Manage your team:

  1. Account Settings → Team
  2. View team members:
    • Name and email
    • Role (Admin, Member)
    • Date joined
    • Last active

Add team members:

  • Click "Invite"
  • Enter email and role
  • They get invitation email

Remove team members:

  • Click "Remove" next to member
  • They lose access to all team projects
  • Their personal projects unaffected

Roles:

  • Owner: Account creator, manages billing
  • Admin: Full team management, no billing access
  • Member: Access to team projects only

Transfer Ownership

Change account owner (leaving company, etc.):

  1. Account Settings → Team → Transfer Ownership
  2. Choose new owner (must be Admin)
  3. Confirm transfer
  4. New owner gets billing control
  5. You become Admin or can be removed

Integrations (Coming Soon)

Connect Palett to other tools:

  • Zapier (automate workflows)
  • Slack (notifications in Slack)
  • Google Drive (auto-export)
  • Dropbox (auto-backup)

API Access (Agency Plans)

API Keys

For developers/integrations:

  1. Account Settings → API
  2. Click "Generate API Key"
  3. Copy key (shown once)
  4. Use in custom integrations

Use cases:

  • Sync materials to your CMS
  • Auto-generate reports
  • Custom client portals
  • Workflow automations

Troubleshooting

"Can't change email"

Reason: New email needs verification

Process:

  1. Enter new email
  2. Receive verification email at new address
  3. Click link in email
  4. Email changed

If verification email doesn't arrive:

  • Check spam folder
  • Ensure email is correct
  • Wait 5 minutes, try again
  • Contact support

"Two-factor authentication not working"

Common issues:

  1. Code expired: Codes valid 30 seconds, get new one
  2. Wrong time: Authenticator app time must be synced
  3. Backup codes: Use saved backup codes if app lost

Lost authenticator access:

  • Use backup codes
  • Or contact support with ID verification

"Export taking too long"

Normal: Large accounts take 24-48 hours

Status: Check email for "Export ready" notification

Still waiting after 48 hours?: Contact support


Best Practices

1. Regular Security Audits

Quarterly checklist:

  • ☐ Review active sessions, revoke unused
  • ☐ Update password
  • ☐ Verify 2FA working
  • ☐ Check team member access (remove departed employees)

2. Notification Management

Avoid overwhelm:

  • Enable critical notifications only (project updates, credit alerts)
  • Use in-app for non-urgent (weekly summaries)
  • Unsubscribe from marketing if not interested

3. Keep Profile Updated

Why it matters:

  • Team knows who you are
  • Clients see professional info on exports
  • Support can verify identity easier

4. Export Data Periodically

Monthly backup:

  • Request data export
  • Download and store securely
  • Verify export completed successfully

Especially before:

  • Major account changes
  • Leaving company
  • End of fiscal year (for records)
