Get started with Palett in 5 minutes: search materials, create your first board, and generate an AI visualization.

Welcome! This guide will help you get started with Palett in just 5 minutes. By the end, you'll have searched for materials, created your first board, and explored our AI visualization features.

Before You Begin

Already signed up? Great! Log in at palett.space

New to Palett? Try 3 free searches on our homepage (no account needed), then sign up to unlock full features.

Step 1: Search for Materials (2 minutes)

Using Text Search

  1. Click the search bar at the top of your dashboard or press ⌘K (Mac) / Ctrl+K (Windows)

  2. Type a natural language query, for example:

    • "Sustainable wood flooring for modern kitchen"
    • "Textured wallpaper in earth tones"
    • "Acoustic ceiling tiles under $15/sq ft"

  3. Apply filters (optional):

    • Category (Flooring, Wall Finishes, Lighting, etc.)
    • Vendor (WAC Lighting, Interface, Loloi, etc.)
    • Price range
    • Lead time

  4. Browse results with high-quality images and complete specifications

Using Visual Search

Have an inspiration photo? Upload it!

  1. Click the camera icon in the search bar
  2. Drag and drop your image or browse your files
  3. Crop to focus on the material you want to match (optional)
  4. Adjust similarity slider to find closer or broader matches

Pro Tip: Visual search works great for fabric patterns, tile designs, wood finishes, and stone textures.

Step 2: Create Your First Board (2 minutes)

Boards are like Pinterest collections for your materials.

Create a Board

  1. Navigate to Boards in your project sidebar (or create a project first if prompted)
  2. Click "New Board" or the + button
  3. Name your board (e.g., "Living Room Finishes", "Client A - Kitchen")
  4. Choose a color to visually organize your boards (optional)

Add Materials to Your Board

From search results:

  1. Hover over any material
  2. Click the "Add to Board" icon
  3. Select your board from the dropdown

From the Library:

  1. Browse your saved materials in the Library tab
  2. Click the checkbox on materials you want
  3. Click "Add to Board" and select destination

Organize Your Board

  • Add notes: Click any material → Add notes about specifications, pricing, or client feedback
  • Rearrange: Drag and drop materials to reorder
  • Create sections: Add nested boards to organize by room or concept

Step 3: Try AI Visualization (1 minute)

See your materials in realistic room concepts.

Generate a Room Concept

  1. Go to the Visualize tab in your project

  2. Click "New Session" or "Generate"

  3. Describe your vision, for example:

    • "Modern living room with natural light and mid-century furniture"
    • "Coastal bedroom with warm wood tones"
    • "Industrial office space with exposed brick"

  4. (Optional) Attach reference images from your boards or upload inspiration photos (up to 14 images)

  5. Click "Generate" and wait 30-60 seconds

  6. Refine your result: Not perfect? Adjust your prompt or add more reference images and generate again

Note: Image generation costs 2-6 AI credits depending on quality. Free accounts get 25 starter credits!

Explore Video Generation

Want an animated walkthrough? (Professional plans and above)

  1. Select a visualization you like
  2. Click "Generate Video"
  3. Choose length and quality (affects credit cost: 60-120 credits)
  4. Download and share with your client!

Step 4: Explore More Features

Now that you've got the basics, here's what to explore next:

AI Chat Assistant

  • Ask questions about materials: "Which rugs are pet-friendly?"
  • Get design advice: "What colors pair well with sage green?"
  • Search via chat: "Find tiles similar to this image" (attach photo)

Collaboration

  • Invite team members: Click your project → Settings → Members → Invite
  • Share with clients: Create a guest link with view-only access
  • Add comments: Tag teammates on materials for feedback

Advanced Search

  • Search web products: Find materials from across the web (beyond our curated catalog)
  • Search your materials: Filter only materials you've uploaded or saved
  • Browse by vendor: Explore full catalogs from specific manufacturers

Project Organization

  • Create multiple projects: Organize by client, property type, or design phase
  • Use the Vault: Upload PDFs, contracts, and notes for each project
  • Schedule view: Track deadlines and milestones
